Serpentine roads in the backcountry, deserted landscapes and a blazing heat. PUMA revives the spirit of Robin's Rally. Find out everything about the new collection!

Inspired by the history of motor sports, the series is equipped with robust details, a technical look and functional features.

What is the background of the PUMA x Porsche Legacy Collection?

The PUMA x Porsche Legacy Collection is inspired by the famous Robin's Rally. This specific road trip takes place twice a year without GPS. The participants are friends who feel that their sports cars are too good to just look at them in the garage, but instead want to take these vehicles out on the road. On their way, these passionate motorsport enthusiasts drive their classic, air-cooled Porsche cars over gravel roads and paved paths. In honor of this off-road trip on a 1,000-mile rally through California, PUMA has designed a stylish and performance-oriented collection.

What distinguishes the special collection?

The sporty and classic product range is accompanied by the colors of the Porsche 930 Turbo. The lined "ultra-grey" jacket is available with black and slate colored elements. In addition, the thermo-regulating RCT 37.5 technology comes into play here. A unique look is given to the collection with Road Trip specific graphics inspired by navigation details and drawing of course lines on maps. The small, embroidered patches reflect the many collectors' stickers that are often displayed like trophies on the windows of Porsche cars.

Looking into a glass ball gone wrong likes to bring a little joy damper. Nobody likes to be wrong. On the other hand. Shigeyuki Mitsui might well have noticed that his prediction with regard to his creation had gone completely in the wrong direction. Mitsui simply did not believe that too many people would like his shoe - and was marathon-wide wrong. The designer could hardly have done a better job. ASCIS wanted a premium running shoe. However, one that had so much style that it would also favour the somewhat more relaxed gait over the asphalt without any problems and, above all, elegantly. The basis was the GEL cushioning developed by ASICS in 1986, made of silicone pads integrated directly into the sole. Shock absorption plus stability equals lower risk of injury. That's how simply the then revolutionary formula worked, which the Japanese brand implemented with the Gel-Lyte I. The shoe was light and comfortable like never before. The shoe was light and comfortable as never before and quickly found its way into the running circus.

Both the first version and its successor focused on the running circuit. Only number three, the Gel-Lyte III, was supposed to be able to break out of the sport whenever it wanted. For this, Shigeyuki Mitsui first created colourful and eye-catching colour combinations. He also gave the shoe a split tongue as well as reflective elements and mesh inserts on the heel. Sports model met style icon. Comfort met design. So: arrived to... disappear again just one year later. First. ASICS' focus on progress quickly forced the development of the successor. But the ASICS Gel-Lyte III had left its mark on the collective sneaker memory. So collaborations like the one with Amsterdam sneaker store Patta brought the shoe back to the streets. For the 25th anniversary of the Gel-Lyte III, ASICS collaborated with Kith and Footpatrol, among others. For the 30th, the brand is also bringing back the OG Citrus colourway - and by now Shigeyuki Mitsui is also convinced that his sneaker definitely met one or two tastes.

As a "troublemaker" Shigeyuki Mitsui likes to take the leap over design guardrails to expand visual awareness. That's also why the ASICS Gel-Lyte III has its characteristic split tongue. But that's not the only reason. Because it actually gives the Gel-Lyte III a distinctive look, but also helps to slide into the sneaker in a relaxed manner. But that's not all: at the same time, it improves the running characteristics and thus also takes the performance idea to its logical conclusion. Especially since designer Mitsui insisted on a tri-density midsole. The production presented his idea with a challenge, but in return you get a shoe that is even more comfortably cushioned. Then there are the colourways that characterise every ASICS Gel-Lyte III sale. They are colourful and like to alternate between neon and pastel, between muted colours and louder versions. OG always stands for the root, for a colourway in which the ASICS Gel-Lyte III was available right at the beginning of its journey in 1990. In addition, you will find specially tailored versions for women as well as new material combinations between smooth and suede, mesh and synthetic in our ASICS Gel-Lyte III store. Always there: the optimal intersection of the comfort of a premium running shoe and the style of a streetwear icon.

Jeans. Chino. Shorts. Skirt. Basically, anything goes with the ASICS Gel-Lyte III. After all, the cult sneaker sets itself no style limits out of conviction. Perhaps the most suitable accompaniment, however, is the chino. Add a relaxed hoodie or crewneck, a T-shirt or shirt, maybe a beanie or deadcap - and you've got the outfit of a Japanese style icon.

It applies to other sneaker legends just as it does to the ASICS Gel-Lyte III: OGs form something like the holy grail of almost every sneaker line. They bring you as close to the roots as possible, combining the tradition of cult sneakers with a good pinch of style. At Keller x you can order the ASICS Gel-Lyte III online. And not just the OGs: In our ASICS Gel-Lyte III shop you'll find special women's models as well as the latest colourways and new material combinations.
